The interlinkages visualisation provides two scenarios for the interlinkages between SDG Targets. The first one, namely, “Multiple reference interlinkages”, is the union of the reference interlinkages for SDG Targets provided based on literature review and the documents provided by various UN and international organisations. The second scenario, namely, “IAEG & SDSN reference interlinkages”, is the union of the reference interlinkages for SDG Targets provided based on the IAEG-SDGs and the SDSN consultation processes working on SDG indicators. Using the scenario of “IAEG & SDSN reference interlinkages” as an example, the directional links between Target 1.1 and other Targets are identified as Set 1, i.e. {1.1, 1.2}, {1.1, 2.3} and {1.1, 8.5}, based on the IAEG-SDGs consultation process on SDG indicators. Based on the SDSN consultation process on SDG indicators, the directional links between Target 1.1 and other Targets are identified as Set 2, i.e. {1.1, 1.2}, {1.1, 1.3}, {1.1, 1.4}, {1.1, 2.3}, {1.1, 5.1}, {1.1, 5.4}, {1.1, 5.a}, {1.1, 10.2}, {1.1, 10.4}, and {1.1, 11.1}. For the scenario of “IAEG & SDSN reference interlinkages”, we define the directional links between Target 1.1 and others as the union of Set 1 & Set 2, i.e. {1.1, 1.2}, {1.1, 1.3}, {1.1, 1.4}, {1.1, 2.3}, {1.1, 5.1}, {1.1, 5.4}, {1.1, 5.a}, {1.1, 8.5}, {1.1, 10.2}, {1.1, 10.4}, and {1.1, 11.1}. So on and so forth, the interlinkages for other individual Targets are identified in the same way. For details on the references, please see Zhou and Moinuddin (2017).
